This 18 x 24" is a portrait, but not a self portrait. I was trying to illustrate the appearance of someone who is sad, or feeling deep sorrow. The end result is something that I feel pushes the border on what it is like to look at another human being and see their sorrow. We are left with the choice of how we will react to that occurrence.
